Things I Wonder

Filed under: Children, Humor Keeps Me Sane, parenting — Chris @ 8:54 am

1) Why can’t anyone replace the toilet paper when they use it up and why can’t the child who frantically screams for me from the bathroom throw away the empty toilet paper tube?  Are we saving them in a pile behind the bathroom door for a reason?

2) Why in one week will some of  my children accrue three weeks worth of dirty clothing in the laundry baskets, yet have only one pair of underwear?

3) Why my children think the rule about no shoes upstairs doesn’t apply to them if they are just “running up there real quick” because clearly the dirt on your shoes will know this?

4) Why, when my children make themselves sandwiches, or bagels, or basically anything, the person who got the stuff out doesn’t put it away because other people still need it, but the last child who uses it doesn’t put it away because he didn’t get it out?

5) Why no one can remove and replace the garbage bag and instead keep shoving garbage  into the garbage can when it is overflowing?  And then PRETEND they didn’t notice it was overflowing?

6) Disappearing socks.  ‘nuf said.

  1. I was just growling to myself about the TP the other day. It’s still just my hubby right now, and his lame excuse way back when was that he didn’t know which way I wanted the paper put (over the top or coming from under) and he didn’t want to displease me. OK, that excuse was good for a couple months, buster, but we’ve been living here for 17 freakin’ years! There are only two ways to do it! What, he couldn’t figure it out in 17 years? >:-o

  2. One husband, one child and I wonder all those same things. I do not know how you keep your sanity!

  3. This is so funny!!
Its like you read my thoughts outloud and then wrote about them.
I, like you, have 7 children as well.
My oldest is 13 and my youngest is 2. So yah, I’ve been pregnant for the past decade. (I did not have the luxury of having multiples. LOL!!)
We are new here to handipoints as I’ve been stressing over scheduling since baby #4. I have a whole file folder full of makeshift schedules that I’ve been meaning to one day consolidate into one master schedule. You know how that goes though, right? My perfectionism wants a schedule for every single day thats different because then that way no one can grumble because its clearly written in black and white.
Okay, Mom, but when do you find that time to make that happen?
Well, I’ve just been winging it over the past years, making schedules mostly when the kids are home on breaks from school. (winter break, summer break,…)
This whole handipoints system is cool!!
    We like it!!
So far so good, as we’ve been on here for almost a week.
The kids now have their savings goals and mom now has a weapon to keep them all motivated, encouraged, and happy!!
    Thank you so much!!

Keeping them accountable, one day at a time!!
