Sometimes we forget that our youngest children can be good helpers. I really hate shucking corn. It is just so messy.
But guess what? My little kids love to do it. For them it is like unwrapping a present. My 2 yr old always seems surprised that there is corn inside, as if it is just pure luck. Each one he holds up and exclaims, “CORN!”
And so the job gets done quickly. They feel like they had an important part in contributing to dinner. And they don’t even complain about helping to clean up all the corn debris on the floor.
It is win win for all of us.
That is a lot of corn. You dont have children of the corn, do you?

My kids love helping with the corn too! I am always amazed at how excited they are to do help.

He he. My kids think they’ve died and gone to heaven when I hand them rags and a bottle of spray cleaner and set them loose on the floors (we have white tile flooring throughout our flat–clearly the person who chose that didn’t have kids). Really, it’s all in the presentation…

when I tell my two kids 8 and 5 I need to dust’ they say yea! I get old towlels or use lost socks and I spray and they are cleaning my walls and doors.
