This post is to share with you new features that we have planned for the site and for you to share your suggestions on new features that you would like us to add to the site.
Parent Features planned as of September 2007:
- Sorting: The ability to choose a custom sort order for the tasks that appear on a chart.
- Edit Tasks: A way to edit tasks directly on the chore chart without having to delete them and add them back again.
- Edit Points: A way to edit the Handipoints value of a graded task directly on the Balance Sheet without having to delete it and complete/grade it again.
Kid Features planned as of September 2007:
- HandiLand: HandiLand will be a virtual world where kids can direct their Cool Cat character to walk around and go into different rooms. There will be rooms in HandiLand where you can bring up your Task Chart, your Mission page, Stamps and Cartoon Theatre. Kids will be able to meet their friends in HandiLand and trade their stamps, clothing, and other items they collect in HandiLand.
- Cartoon Theatre: Every kid will receive free cartoons of Milo and Petals every month that they can watch in the HandiLand Theatre.
- Hidden Surprises in the Task Chart: Kids will randomly win rare costumes and stamps for completing special tasks.

I love the tie in to the virtual pet. They are so popular right now. Any chance of a read a story online and then answer comprehension questions for bonus points? I am alos looking forward to the simplified editing. Thank you!

Yes, we love the idea of fun and educational quizzes for the kids to take to earn Bonus Points without the parents having to grade tasks. Thanks for the comments Michele!

Our neighbor kids are all in love with those Webkinz things, do you think Handipoints will ever sell (if they don’t already) little stuffed animals to match the virtual pets?
Comment by Brigitte — September 13, 2007 @ 7:58 am
And perhaps different animals. My neighbor thought her boys may not buy into a cat.

We just released a new Hints feature that you can access from the Help button in the Parents app and the Show Tips button in the Kids app. Hints will give you tips on how to get started quickly using the application. Also in the kids app, we released a new Cartoons browser with several new Milo cartoons. Check it!

Comment by jonathan — May 3, 2008 @ 7:42 am
I hope they won’t be able to fall in love! Sending hearts at each other is cute enough for online.
Comment by michelle — May 3, 2008 @ 11:12 am
I agree, no falling in love please! ! ! Falling in love is reserved for adulthood in my opinion!

I am a new user and wanted to know what it means when the cats are saying “I’m trading”. I have a 7 year old, and we are trying to figure the site out. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
Comment by Lori — June 9, 2008 @ 9:53 pm
That means they are either trading clothes or stamps. If you go to the Bull dog in handiland, click on that, and you will see the people in handiland. Click on a name and on the right you will see a box. Click on that and you will see what they have. If you want something or their’s click on it and then click on something you are willing trade for it.Then a email will be sent to that person.
MY QUESTION: Do they no longer get points for Us grading them?
Comment by Kara — June 14, 2008 @ 5:13 pm
Hi Kara, thanks for answering the trading question. Yes, kids still get points when you grade them. But kids can earn points automatically when they check off the gold stars. Grading is good to confirm that they actually did the tasks. Also kids can only get a max of 30 bonus points automatically when checking the gold check marks but if you grade there is no limit on the amount of points that are awarded.
Comment by Viva — June 15, 2008 @ 2:12 am
Thanks but for some reason my are no longer getting extra points when I grade their tasks.
Comment by Kara — June 16, 2008 @ 5:37 pm
I’m fairly new to Handiland and have been trying to figure things out. One thing I have not been able to find is the Mission page. What is it and where can I find it?
Thanks for your help!
Comment by Winnie — June 16, 2008 @ 7:26 pm
Well what ever they did they got extra points today for me grading so they are happy again
Comment by Kara — June 20, 2008 @ 6:00 pm
can the task charts be upgraded so that I (the mom) can edit the name of the chart or delete a chart I no longer want? or to add/create/make a new chart without having to add in the maximum # of tasks first? I cannot seem to find an option to do these simple things.
Comment by marie — June 27, 2008 @ 1:21 am
never mind, i finally found it
Comment by marie — June 27, 2008 @ 1:24 am
how do you earn pets for your cats while on the handipoints games i see that other people have them and was interested to know?
Comment by Brock — September 7, 2008 @ 2:31 pm
I LOVE HANDIPOINTS my kids are now arguing over the computer, so i have to add that to my charts. Still, it’s nice to see them race off to make their bed.
I think all the new additions are awesome and I want to thank the staff for such an incredible tool and such a safe place for my kids to play.
Drev can’t wait for the beach to open up and Jess wants to go to the forest.

1. I would love a Cub/Boy Scouts task item and icon. I’m sure the girls would like a Girl Scout item.
2. I would like to have an activity last for a certain time. For instance, basketball practices are Saturdays, but only in certain months like November – February. Once basketball if over, you have to delete the whole item and it erases from their calendar.
3. When adding a one time event, is there a way to put it in the future? For instance, I grade and update on Sundays, but I know a one time activity is on Thursday. Could you add a date on one time activities?
By the way, thanks for adding the Recycle task!
Comment by Meredeth — January 4, 2010 @ 4:22 pm
I forgot, one last item.
It would be nice for a parent of multiple children to make a basic Task Chart and activate it for all children, but still be able to add unique items to each child separately. Right now, once you perfect a Task Chart for one child you can add a new chart for another child by copying the first child’s chart items one at a time. However, the order and special scheduling goes back to default. It is almost as bad as doing it from scratch, but better than it used to be.

we r new to this. i think it is a good thing,my problem is my kids cant buy any thing off the virt. room when it say buy they hit buy then it says u must be a cool cat member then when we hit sing up it tells us we already are. help!
Comment by cr — January 7, 2010 @ 6:19 pm
you should try again!
Comment by jameria — January 14, 2010 @ 7:03 pm
CR we are having the same problem as you. When the button is clicked to buy something it states we are not members. When we click the subscribe button it states we are already members. I think it has to do with adding another child after the initial sign-up and not doing it all at once. I sent an E-Mail asking how to fix it, but haven’t received a reply. Please post if you figure it something out. Thanks.
Comment by Kandace — January 16, 2010 @ 8:33 am
We too are having that problem about not “being a cool cat member”. We haven’t added a child or changed our membership in anyway. There was a time they weren’t using the site, but are back at it. My daughter is getting really frustrated with it. Any help to get this fixed quickly would be appreciated.
Comment by Lori — January 19, 2010 @ 8:34 pm
I’ve tried to contact twice about this and received no response. It tells me that our membership expired, but when I click to renew it says we’re already members.
I’m also getting funky HTML in the parent’s section, and today my daughter tried to redeem a Nintendo DSI for 340 handipoints! (We use 10 points per dollar). The site allowed her to add something past the limit ($25) and then calculated the points wrong.
Why aren’t they responding to emails and such?
Comment by LJ — January 30, 2010 @ 9:34 pm
Now we’re having the problems with it telling us we’re members, but my daughter can’t access the cool cat club.
I’ve emailed twice. I’ve even called the support number and left a message.
Nothing in response.
Is this site even active any more? Is the company running? What on earth is going on?!?!?
Comment by LJ — February 6, 2010 @ 9:33 pm
We’re also having the problem of “being a cool cat member” My older kids can’t buy anything (they were added later) and I’ve found nothing to help with problems with the site.
Comment by JT — February 18, 2010 @ 12:12 pm
I’ve emailed twice about the same problem. Both times I get an automatic reponse that someone from support will contact me within 48 hours. It’s been over a week. My older kids are becoming resentful of the younger ones because they are actually able to use their bonus points. The older ones are also giving up on the site and going back to me having to nag them about everything. It would be nice if there was at the least a post letting us know that the issues are being looked into so that I actually have something to tell them. Instead there are posts about pancake dinners and pinecone bird feeders. Sorry, but this does absolutely NOTHING for my family. So what’s the deal…someone sitting backing getting rich off the fees for Handiland and not really caring about problems that arise? Cause that’s what it’s starting to look like. I’m extremely displease with the service on this site. If the problem isn’t fixes soon we’ll be going back to the FREE site we were using before.
Comment by JT — March 3, 2010 @ 9:09 am
Hello JT, all of you kids should now have free subscriptions. Please note that back in November, we stopped charging for new memberships. When you signup for a completely new account, all of your kids automatically get free subscriptions. However, if you add kids through the parent tool, the new kids do not get the membership automatically and we manually have to adjust that for now. Apologies for the confusion and delay.
Comment by Handipoints Support — March 3, 2010 @ 1:22 pm
Thank you for the prompt response and for adjusting the account for us. The older kids were very happy to learn they will be able to use their points now. The kids really like this site and I have no problem paying for the service I wasn’t aware of the changes made in November since we didn’t join until mid-February.
Comment by JT — March 3, 2010 @ 5:28 pm
Hmmm… so what can bonus points be used for? My kids can’t use theirs either.
Comment by KL — March 8, 2010 @ 8:37 pm
so will the kids side still be updated if you arent charging people? I asked because just the day Elizabeth said the news paper had not changed from halloween ( I didnt know there was a news paper but, okay)
Comment by Angela — March 10, 2010 @ 8:27 am
